ABOUT

   The Electronics & Communication Engineering department strongly believes in working towards a goal which is not theoretical in content but practical in approach. The department started in the year 2001 with a Student intake of 60 and increased to 120 in the year 2004. It is later accredited on 19th July 2008. The department laboratories are fully air-conditioned, well equipped 60 computer systems configured with P4 Dual core pro with high end computational units commensurate with licensed electronic design software’s such as Xilinx Spartan2, MATLAB, OrCAD PSPICE and MASM. The department has strength of 24 well qualified, dedicated & experienced faculties who have been the driving force behind the rapid success of this department. As a part of this endeavor, department has accreditated by NBA, New Delhi and signed Memorandum of Understanding with IGCAR, Kalpakkam, Vi Micro Systems Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, Vikasha Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, Vee Eee Technologies, Chennai and Advantage Pro, Chennai for academic and research development. Department has more than 15,000 books, IEEE online journals and subjects oriented CDs as a part of Computer based tutorials for the enrichment of student’s knowledge.

   II Year and III Year students compulsorily undergo In-plant training & final year students carry out project work in various industries which enlighten them on the work environment in today’s world. Student’s memberships in various professional bodies like ISTE and IEEE help to enhance their co-curricular activities. It is proud that many of the students from this department have been placed in leading companies through Campus selection program. Students pursue higher studies in leading universities abroad and the department consistently earns more Anna University ranks every year. In this, ECE Department achieved Gold medal in the year 2006 and 2013. Also department made a Collaborative Research and Development links with leading organizations in India.

PEO1: To produce graduates with a solid foundation in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
PEO2: To produce technically competent graduates with ability to analyze, design, develop, optimize and implement electronic systems.
PEO3: To produce graduates with sufficient breadth in electronics and its related fields so as to enable them to solve general engineering problems.
PEO4: To produce graduates with a professional outlook who can communicate effectively and interact responsibly with colleagues, clients, employers and the society.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

PSO1: An ability to understand the basic concepts in Electronics & Communication Engineering and to apply them to various areas, like Electronics, Communications, Signal processing, VLSI, Embedded systems etc., in the design and implementation of complex systems.
PSO2: An ability to solve complex Electronics and communication Engineering problems, using latest hardware and software tools, along with analytical skills to arrive cost effective and appropriate solutions.
PSO3: An understanding of social-awareness & environmental-wisdom along with ethical responsibility to have a successful career and to sustain passion and zeal for real-world applications using optimal resources as an Entrepreneur.
